Elian Gonzalez - Reunited with Father
April 22, 2000 (Miami) - In an early morning
raid, Federal Agents took Elian Gonzalez from the home of his Miami relatives to reunite
him with his father at Andrews Air Force Base in Washington. While he will not be
allowed to leave the United States until further Court decision, Attorney General Reno
said the issue was "this boy has a father here who wants to be reunited with his
child. Who else can speak for this child..."
Have you wondered what is going on? Is this
really that difficult a decision? Read the brief news article below -- what do
you think? Did you see the little boy at Disney World, and with his new
little puppy -- and asked does he want to go back? What do you think your little 6
year old might have said? Should we even ask?
There are so many allegations being made with very
little proof. Maybe we need to get back to basics and remember parents & children have
a Civil Right to be together! There is a National event planned for this coming Mother's
Day, check here for details.
Washington (EFE via COMTEX) -- The Dominican nun who hosted the meeting between Elian
Gonzalez and his grandmothers said Friday she was no longer neutral and now
believes the child should stay in the United States.
Sister Jeanne O'Laughlin said she had "changed her mind" and now
believes the six-year-old should live in a "free" and "stable" country
rather than in Cuba. "I am no longer neutral," O'Laughlin announced
Friday, arguing that the boy needs a secure environment such as he has found in the United
States. O'Laughlin remarked that she was swayed by the "fear" she noted in
Elian's grandmothers during their visit to her home.
For those of you who have been through the Family Law system in the
United States -- does it bring back memories? Do you remember a report written by a
Psychologist or Law Guardian which stripped you of seeing your child based on an
"educated guess" -- but no real facts.
Examine our goals, read our proposed
Family Rights Act which recognizes the basic Civil
Right of parents and children to be together.
